The Moss Bluff Elementary PTO hosts an annual Cookie Dough Fundraiser starting in the fall. The cookie dough is delivered in November—just in time for the holidays! We have enjoyed great success with the sale and have been able to do wonderful things for the students, school, and teachers. In the past few years, we have helped fund a new computer lab, new sports equipment, new playground fun hoops, socials, popcorn parties, and much more! We appreciate all the support we receive from the wonderful parents of MBE. Look for the cookie dough fundraiser to start in the fall of 2005.

Each year the PTO hosts two socials for teachers, students and family. At the socials, kids play games, teachers have contests, door prizes are given away and everyone has a good time. This is a perfect opportunity to learn about what the PTO has planned or has accomplished during the school year. The class with the highest attendance wins a pizza party! Look for the date of the fall social in the PTO newsletter. Hope to see you there!

The Moss Bluff PTO offers spirit shirts and sweatshirts for sale during Meet & Greet, PTO Socials, and throughout the year in the office. Students may wear the T-shirts with uniform bottoms on Fridays and the sweatshirts on any day of the week. Go MBE! Contact Carole Smith if you would like to join the Spirit Shirt Committee.

To show our appreciation to all the wonderful Teachers at MBE, we celebrate all week during Teacher Appreciation Week with gifts, baked goods, and a catered luncheon served by volunteers. The gifts and goodies are all donated by local businesses and parents. The luncheon takes place on a Friday and is funded by the PTO fundraiser. It is a pleasure to serve the staff and thank them for all they do for our children. If you are interested in joining the Teacher Appreciation Committee or Donations Committee, please contact Becky Johnson.

The PTO publishes a monthly newsletter which includes the school menu. The newsletter is filled with updates on PTO activity, information about calendar events, and information about outstanding students or parent volunteers. If you have anything that you would like to appear in the newsletter, please submit it to the office marked “PTO Newsletter” by the 25^th of the prior month. Be sure and read the newsletter each month!

Throughout the school year the PTO pops popcorn as a special treat. Each student receives popcorn with their grade level. 5^th graders also get popcorn during 5^th grade week. Look for popcorn at the PTO Socials during the 2005-2006 school year! If you would like to join the Popcorn Committee, please contact Becky Johnson. This is a fun committee that only meets a few times a year. It is a great way to be involved at MBE!

One of the greatest services that the PTO provides the teachers at MBE is volunteering to run copies and utilize the media center. These volunteers give their time to help the teachers with their classroom copy and media needs. Teachers rely on the PTO to organize these committees and the PTO relies on the commitment of the parents. We couldn’t do it without the wonderful volunteers! If anyone is interested in helping out with copy or media, perhaps one day every other week, please contact Teresa Neese for Media or Carrie Skipworth for Copy. We need people like you!
