Moss Bluff is intersected by Louisiana Highway 171 and Louisiana Highway 378. It is the home of Sam Houston Jones State Park. Once a rural settlement, since the early 1990's it has experienced significant commercial and residential growth along Sam Houston Jones Parkway, a section of Highway 378, and along U.S. Highway 171. Moss Bluff's elementary and junior high schools are the largest in Calcasieu Parish. Moss Bluff Elementary is a feeder school to Moss Bluff Middle and Sam Houston High School.
MBE is the only elementary serving the students of Moss Bluff, Louisiana. Moss Bluff Elementary is a large school with an attendance of 995 students. The professional staff includes Forty-eight teachers in grades PreK-5, a library media specialist, two SPARK teachers, one French teacher, two PE teachers, two Speech teachers, one Music teacher and a lab manager. Moss Bluff’s staff is dedicated to continuous academic achievement. The vision is to provide a technology rich learning environment that includes: Innovative classroom technology integration; Students, staff and parents utilizing Blackboard; Faculty members have received awards for technology enhancement and presented at conferences (I-Tech, LEARN, ASAP, LACUE, NAESP, LATM); Lessons are student centered and infused with technology; 430+ computers wired to internet, computer projection devices, Promethean boards, Flex and Document cameras, and a variety of other digital devices are used for instruction.
